K-12 Outreach & Programming
The K-12 Outreach & Programming component of Faces of Access and the Midwest Alliance focuses on informing underrepresented and underserved students about their postsecondary opportunities and pathways by providing them a chance to explore all of the factors that may influence their decision. The ultimate goal of these programs is to increase these students’ knowledge and understanding of postsecondary pathways and provide authentic opportunities for them to practice the decision making they will encounter in life. Our K-12 programming is designed to prepare students to make educated and informed decisions about their postsecondary and career pathways.
Our programs assist students with developing the needed skills that will lead to greater persistence and success in college and future employability. Students participating in our programming gain:
a higher awareness of postsecondary education options,
are able to identify relationships between career fields and education,
develop college and career readiness skills, and
are able to make appropriate postsecondary college and career plans.
Additionally, students will learn and develop critical college and career readiness skills, including:
social and emotional skills,
stress management,
time management,
self-discipline,
self-motivation,
effective communication,
the nine dimensions of wellness, and
goal setting skills.
