Every two years, over 7 million words of new law is enacted…
The United States Congress is responsible for 4-6 million words of new law in each two-year Congressional term. However, federal law is limited to the powers explicitly stated in the US Constitution - meaning if the law is regarding a matter reserved for the states, state law stands. Therefore, state and local law/policy is equally as important as federal law/policy. In fact, we typically interact with state and local laws most often in our daily lives and workplaces.
Collaborative Community is a non-profit enterprise dedicated to humanizing policy and bring the voices of those impacted to the forefront. We demonstrate how social policies shape lives, families, and communities through research, candid interviews, heartfelt conversations, and uplifting stories that too often go unheard. We strive to bridge the gap between expertise and lived experiences, to empower communities to engage with the policies impacting them.
Our work is multifaceted:
Stories That Matter: We share authentic narratives that reveal the personal and collective impact of social policies.
Simplified Learning: Through videos and multimedia, we make complex policy issues accessible and understandable.
Research and Insights: We conduct and publish research that highlights the lived experiences of individuals and communities, offering data-driven insights into social challenges and opportunities for growth.
Capacity Building and Consulting: We offer strategic consulting services to help organizations enhance their impact and understanding of lived experiences. From research and facilitation to evaluations and capacity-building support, we tailor our expertise to meet the unique needs of those we serve and the communities they impact.
Founded in 2018 as Faces of Access, our organization began with a focused mission: to expand educational outreach, knowledge, and opportunities for urban and rural youth pursuing a higher education degree. Over time, our understanding of the need grew and so did our mission, vision, and impact, prompting an evolution of our work and services.
In 2025, we rebranded as Collaborative Community to reflect our broadened scope and commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships. Guided by the belief that progress happens where communities and experts unite, Collaborative Community prioritizes collaboration that spreads knowledge and builds capacity across America.
We strive to develop and use our resources and research to empower individuals and communities to address challenges, develop essential skills, and create sustainable solutions for a better future. By combining education, engagement, and action, we remain dedicated to uplifting communities and driving impactful change where people live, work, and play.
